Blob can be seen as both, an exciting and subtle piece of art. From the distance it appears to be a common Milanese house front. At second glance one realises the weird shape and the fact that the house seems to be under pressure. It creates a strong contrast to the surrounding architecture. Details such as the movement of the sticking out curtains and laundry enhance this effect. The laundry could be branded with the Diesel logo, creating a link to the sponsor and the commercial, leisure world in general.
Blob consists of an inflatable PVC skin. A typical Milanese house front is printed onto the PVC. A wallmounted Aluminium frame holds this skin into place. Constantly running airfans create a 3d structure which morphs from the silhoutte of the house to a perfectly shaped bubble. Excessive air escapes through the curtains and laundry, thus placing those items in a certain degree to the bubble, while also allowing movement.
